The Anecdotal Gardener was launched (via Blogspot) in 2012 to share my gardening trials and tribulations with fellow gardeners, who, like myself, struggle with backyard gardening. I started out in half a community garden plot learning mostly by talking to other gardeners. Over the years, I upgraded to a full community garden spot for a few years and eventually my very own backyard garden, which includes 4 garden plots, a dedicated asparagus beds, cold frame, high hoop, compost, and a small flock of chickens. I affectionately refer to it as my half acre homestead or more often the North Helderberg Homestead. I miss the days of talking to my fellow gardeners and exchanging stories of successes and failures. Every year I try to grow one plant I haven’t grown before. In the past I’ve tried, ground cherries, corn, watermelon, pumpkins, and potatoes, just to name a few.
Follow along here as I continue to share my stories of garden successes and failures in my quest to be fully sustainable!
